276 New COVID-19 Cases Since Friday at Noon

And, 14 New Deaths

29,279 Total Positives /831 Total Deaths

MOHAVE COUNTY, AZ (October 13, 2021) — The Mohave County Health Department (MCDPH) Nursing staff has been notified of 276 new confirmed COVID-19 cases reported since Friday at noon. There are also 14 new deaths reported.

Five of the deaths are in the Bullhead City service area. Four of those are from previously reported cases. One is 50-59; one is 60-69; two are 80-89. The 5^th Bullhead City area death is a new case that is not previously reported, a 60-69 individual.

Seven of the deaths are from the Kingman service area. Two are 40-49; one is 50-59; one is 60-69; two are 70-79; one is 80-89.

The final two deaths are both in the Lake Havasu City service area. One is 60-69 and one is 70-79.

Of the 276 new confirmed positive cases, ALL remain under investigation.

Of the 276 new confirmed cases, there are 113 new confirmed cases in the Bullhead City service area There are 88 new confirmed cases in the Kingman service area. There are 63 new confirmed cases in the Lake Havasu City service area. There are 6 new confirmed cases in the North County service area. There are 6 new confirmed cases in an Undetermined or Unknown area of the county.

Of the 113 new confirmed cases in the Bullhead City area, ten are 0-10; eighteen are 11-19; eighteen are 20-29; twenty are 30-39; thirteen are 40-49; nine are 50-59; thirteen are 60-69; ten are 70-79; eight are 80-89. The final Bullhead City area new confirmed case is mentioned above as a new death as well, a 60-69 individual.

Of the 88 new confirmed cases in the Kingman area, three are 0-10; eight are 11-19; eight are 20-29; seventeen are 30-39; sixteen are 40-49; fifteen are 50-59; sixteen are 60-69; three are 70-79; two are 80-89.

Of the 63 new confirmed cases in the Lake Havasu City area, two are 0-10; seven are 11-19; ten are 20-29; five are 30-39; four are 40-49; six are 50-59; seventeen are 60-69; seven are 70-79; five are 80-89.

Of the 6 new confirmed cases in the North County area, three are 11-19; one is 30-39; one is 50-59; one is 60-69.

Of the 6 new confirmed cases in an Unknown/Undetermined area of the county, one is 0-10; two are 40-49; one is 60-69; two are 70-79.

AVERAGE AGE OF CASES SINCE CASE #1: 45.2

AVERAGE AGE OF DEATHS SINCE FIRST DEATH: 73.0

**Important Reminder: Even those fully vaccinated can still get COVID-19. The vaccine reduces the severity of the virus and hospitalizations. It does not mean individuals are totally immune from Covid-19.**

CDC’s Recommendations for Pfizer Booster Shot

A press release from the CDC on Friday lists the latest recommendation for a booster shot of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, allowing “for millions of Americans who are at the highest risk” to receive the jab.

Here are the recommendations:

*People 65 years and older and residents in long-term care facilities should receive a Pfizer booster shot at least 6 months after their primary 2 shots,

* Persons aged 50-64 years with underlying health conditions should receive a a Pfizer booster shot at least 6 months after their primary 2 shots,

*Persons 18-49 with underlying medical conditions may receive a Pfizer booster shot at least 6 months after their primary 2 shots, based on their individual benefits and risks.

*Persons 18-64 who are at increased risk for COVID-19 exposure and transmission because of occupational or institutional setting may receive a Pfizer booster shot at least 6 months after their primary 2 shots, based on their individual benefits and risks.

Most of the vaccinated Mohave County residents have received at least 1 dose of the Moderna vaccine. Meanwhile, the FDA is reviewing data and research submitted by Moderna regarding booster shots, but no recommendation has been made.

Reducing COVID-19 Hospitalizations

Early intervention with monoclonal antibody infusion therapy can shorten the duration of COVID-19 symptoms and reduce the risk of severe illness and hospitalization. This is becoming increasingly important as a surge of patients with the Delta variant continues to strain hospital resources.

The therapy is available to the following people:

Individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19 and are within ten days of symptom onset
• Unvaccinated individuals who have had close contact with a COVID-positive person
• Vaccinated individuals who are immunocompromised and have had close contact with a COVID-positive person

COVID-19 Cases are on the rise in many parts of the U.S., including Mohave County. Well over 90% of all those who are hospitalized, were not vaccinated. The Mohave County Health Department continues to urge all residents to get fully vaccinated. At this point, Mohave County has under 40% vaccinated. Pfizer Vaccine Now Available to

12-17 Year Olds in Mohave County

The Mohave County Department of Public Health has now allocated Pfizer vaccine to the following providers this week. Two doses are required and this vaccine can be administered to the 12-17 age group. In Mohave County, that is approximately 10,000 individuals.)
