Our 4th Annual Memory Care Campaign will be kicking off on November 1st and ending November 30th.
I started this campaign four years ago while battling my mother’s 5-year early onset Alzheimer’s diagnosis. Sadly, she passed a few months later. I know that I am not alone in this fight and in this community. My goal is to raise awareness, raise funding and with the help of the River Fund, Inc., continue our Memory Care Grant that supports locals who are fighting this battle. We would also like to implement a better outreach system in place for families looking for assistance; rather it be financially, educational, or emotionally.
We will be raising money all month long, but our big event will be the “Cruising For A Cause Poker Run”, November 9th on the beautiful Colorado River and Laughlin River Walk. We will have 5 designated poker stops along the casino span of the river. Participants will get a nice change of pace from the past year’s Riverwalk Poker Walk, because this year our friends at River Passage Water Taxi have joined in and participants will get wristbands to get use the water taxis to get to and from each location!
Following the poker run we will be hosting an 11:30am Memory Care Reception with hors d’ oeuvres, a silent auction, 50/50 drawings, live music and a live raffle.
Business or individuals can sponsor a table at the reception for $50.You may provide any collateral or “swag” to be placed on the table you have sponsored. You can also sponsor a water taxi that will be carrying participants from each dock stop during the poker run, water taxi sponsors are $100.00. We are also looking for any prizes that can used for the silent auction or live raffle.
