5 year old house sitting?

** Child Abuse & Drug Offense **

On Tuesday, September 24th, Kingman Police arrested Michael Anthony Gurney, 39, and Donna Ann Gurney, 43 of Kingman, on felony charges of Child Abuse, Possession of Dangerous Drugs for Sale and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  Both also had assorted misdemeanor warrants for their arrest on other unrelated charges.  Officers responded to a residence in the 700blk of Ridgecrest Dr. to assist Department of Child Safety (DCS) investigators.  Investigators found that a 5 year old girl had answered the door, with no evidence of a parent or guardian in the home.  KPD officers entered the home and found Donna Gurney hiding in a back room, apparently due to having a warrant for her arrest.  During this time officers observed methamphetamine and assorted drug paraphernalia in the residence.    Gurney was arrested and the 5 year old was taken into protective custody by DCS.  Investigators obtained a search warrant and later found additional amounts of methamphetamine and the associated drug paraphernalia to indicate drug sales.  During the service of the search warrant Michael Gurney arrived and was taken into custody on several arrest warrants.    An older child was also taken into protective custody by DCS upon returning from school.  Both Gurneys admitted involvement in the offenses and were booked into the Mohave County Adult Detention Facility.  The home has been condemned as uninhabitable by the Kingman Fire Department.

** Burglary to Business **

On Tuesday, Kingman Police arrested Richard Paul Wright, 51, and Michael James Lewis, 54, on felony charges of Burglary 3rd Degree and Possession of Stolen Property.  Lewis was additionally charged with felony Trafficking in Stolen Property. Tuesday morning KPD investigated the burglary to a business in the 2600blk of Hualapai Mountain Rd.  It was discovered that sometime during the previous night suspects had broken into a storage shed behind the business and removed over $8,000.00 in aluminum shelving.  Investigators were able to find Lewis at a recycling business on Andy Devine Ave. where he was found to be in possession of some of the stolen shelving.  Investigators later served a search warrant at a residence in the 3900blk of Ryan Ave. where Wright was located and arrested, along with the remainder of the stolen shelving. Both admitted involvement and were booked into the Mohave County Adult Detention Facility.
