Abduction by Non-Custodial Parent

BULLHEAD CITY, Ariz. – December 2, 2022 – The Bullhead City Police Department is actively searching for Matthew Robert Dodd, 28, who is wanted for abducting a baby as a non-custodial parent. Dodd has since returned his 15-month-old son to the baby’s grandmother who has temporary custody. The baby was unharmed.
Just before midnight on Thursday, December 1st, Matthew Dodd pushed his way into the grandmother’s apartment, 1600 block of Marble Canyon Drive, and forcefully took the sleeping baby after a physical struggle with the grandma. Dodd fled on foot into the desert area nearby with his son. Dodd also reportedly took the grandmother’s phone and she yelled for neighbors to contact police for help. Police issued an Amber Alert –abduction by non-custodial parent.
On December 2nd at around 3 a.m., the grandmother contacted police and advised that Dodd had returned the baby. He reportedly apologized and then fled on foot again.
A warrant was requested for charges of child abuse per domestic violence, trespassing per domestic violence, custodial interference per domestic violence, disorderly conduct per domestic violence, assault per domestic violence and criminal damage per domestic violence. The doorframe of the grandmother’s apartment was reportedly damaged when he forced his way in.
