Aggravated Assault on a Peace Officer, Resisting Arrest and Misdemeanor Warrant x4

On Thursday, July 4th at about 8:00pm, the Kingman Police Department arrested John James Makela, 59 of Golden Valley for the charges of Aggravated Assault on a Peace Officer, Resisting Arrest and Misdemeanor Warrants x4.  Officers responded to a business in the 200blk of East Beale Street for a report of a fight.  Upon arrival officers located three subjects in a verbal altercation and when officers attempted to detain Makela he actively resisted.  Officers were able to deploy a TASER on Makela but before he could be handcuffed he caused a laceration to the face of an officer.  Makela was placed under arrest for aggravated assault on a peace officer and resisting arrest.  Makela was also found to have four misdemeanor warrants, he was booked into the Mohave County Adult Detention Center.
