BULLHEAD CITY, Ariz. – December 14, 2022 – The Bullhead City Police Department was involved in an incident with an aggressive dog.

On December 14 at approximately 10 a.m., an officer went to a residence in the 1800 block of Wendell Avenue to follow up on a non-injury hit and run that occurred in the Wal-Mart parking lot. The officer could hear people inside the house and knocked several times.

When the door opened, the officer instructed the person to control their dog. The dog then went out the front door of the residence. The dog was aggressive, and based upon its size, had the apparent ability to cause severe physical injury.  The dog immediately lunged at the officer and the officer shot at the dog. The dog was injured but ran away from the area.   (Full article link: https://www.thebee.news/aggressive-dog-incident/)

The dog was located by Animal Care & Welfare later in the day alive on Wendell Ave. It is the City’s understanding that the owner has taken the dog for care outside of the Bullhead City area.

According to Animal Care & Welfare, the dog owner was recently cited after the same aggressive dog was at large and tried to attack an Animal Care & Welfare officer.

The hit and run is still under investigation.
