BULLHEAD CITY–A local man required eight stitches to his head Saturday following a reported assault in the 2100 block of Highway 95.

John Byrd, friend of the victim, told The Bee he called 911 after finding his friend on the ground, bleeding from his head.

“I don’t know what he was hit with, but it was something,” said Byrd. “They (paramedics) came and took him to the hospital.”

The male victim, whose name was not released by police, was treated at Western Arizona Regional Medical Center and later released.

“He got eight stitches,” said Byrd. “He believes he was struck from behind.”

Byrd also told The Bee they believe they know who the suspect was, however, Bullhead City Police spokeswoman Emily Fromelt said Saturday night police do not have a definite suspect at this time. The victim also reportedly declined prosecution.

Byrd said he and the victim are homeless at this time and hope the assailant does not return. They plan on seeking out services next week to hopefully assist them getting off the streets. The victim is reportedly a veteran of the armed forces.

The incident remains under investigation with the police department.
