Laughlin/Bullhead International Airport hosts the 2022 Experimental Aircraft Association’s International Young Eagles Day from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, at Signature Flight Support, 2550 Laughlin View Dr. (See attached flyer with map).

EAA member volunteers provide free flights for youth ages 8 through 17.

“A lot of us grew up dreaming about becoming a pilot. As the industry battles through a pilot shortage, it is important to hold events like this to show the next generation what it is like to be a pilot,” said Kellen Shireman, LBIA Assistant Airport Director.

A parent is required to register their child. Each participant will take part in the pre-flight check of the aircraft. During the pre-flight, the pilot will explain each part of the aircraft and its function. Following the inspection, a 15–20-minute flight around the valley will show each child what it is like to be a pilot. After the flight, all Young Eagles receive a certificate commemorating their adventure. Participants receive follow-up opportunities ranging from free learn-to-fly courses to more aviation-related experiences.

Since 1992, more than 2.2 million Young Eagles have enjoyed a flight through the program. Young Eagles have been registered in more than 90 different countries and flown by more than 43,000
volunteer pilots.
