MOHAVE COUNTY – Applications for Physical Therapist Assistant program at Mohave Community College are now open and will remain open until all 20 seats are filled. The PTA program is a two-year program designed to prepare students for the PTA licensing exam. Physical therapist assistants work with people of all ages suffering from weakness, stroke, surgery, orthopedic problems, wounds, spinal cord injury and brain injury to help them achieve their rehabilitation goals.

“The program provides high quality education to prepare graduates to work under a licensed physical therapist. This is a rewarding career with many avenues for advancement,” said Elizabeth Briere, PTA program director. “Join a growing profession in rehabilitation services by applying to Mohave Community College Physical Therapist Assistant Program.”

PTA graduates have had a 100% pass rate on their board exams in 2020, 2019, 2018, 2017 and 2016. Erika Hiestand, 2020 MCC PTA graduate, previously said she chose the program because of its small class sizes and one-on-one attention between students and instructors.

Physical therapist assistants are usually employed in outpatient physical therapy clinics, hospitals, and skilled nursing facilities. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Physical Therapist Assistants can earn up to $82,470 a year. The Physical Therapist Assistant program is located on the Lake Havasu City Campus.
