On Saturday (2/1) at approximately 1:50 PM, The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Division of Boating Safety responded to a reported boat fire in the middle of the North Basin on Lake Havasu. Upon Deputies arrival, it was determined that the three occupants had made it onto other boats that were in the area, and were not injured. Deputies, utilizing their patrol boat outboard motors, were able to extinguish the fire. The boat was salvaged by a local tow company. It was reported by the occupants that they had just purchased the boat, a 2008 28 foot Magic deck boat, 1 day prior. It was determined that the boat suffered a mechanical failure which caused the fire. The boat is a total loss, and is valued at $120,000.
