**Broadway Fire Causes Temporary Closure of Oxbow Recreation Area and Surrounding Area**

YUMA, Ariz. — The Broadway Fire, which ignited in the afternoon of May 21, is currently mapped at 713 acres and is located approximately 25 miles southwest of Ehrenberg. In response to this incident, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is enacting a temporary closure of the Oxbow Recreation Area and its surrounding areas. Additionally, portions of Highway 78 on the California side and local access roads leading to the riverfront will be affected starting today and continuing through the weekend.

For the safety of the public and firefighters, who are actively working to contain the wildfire, these measures are necessary. As of now, no containment has been reported. The priority of ongoing firefighting operations is to protect structures, critical infrastructure, and ensure public safety.
