Bullhead City Man Arrested for Arson

Arson Arrest

Bullhead City, AZ – October 28, 2021 – The Bullhead City Police Department arrested Duran Lester Smock, 33, for multiple counts of arson. Since May, 2021, detectives have been investigating a series of fires that appeared to be purposely lit in the area of McCormick Boulevard. The Fire Department responded to numerous reports of bushes/trees on fire from May through September.

During the investigation, police learned that a man named Duran Smock was arrested in 2020 in nearby Laughlin, NV for the exact crimes of lighting trees and bushes on fire. Detectives also discovered that Smock currently resided on McCormick Boulevard.

On October 23, 2021, Bullhead City Police were dispatched to arson of a vehicle at an apartment complex on McCormick Boulevard. Surveillance video showed the suspect’s vehicle matching the description of a vehicle Smock owned.

On October 28, detectives went to his apartment and arrested Smock for arson and he was booked into the Mohave County Jail in Kingman. Additional charges of reckless burning are pending.
