BULLHEAD CITY, AZ., April 10, 2024—The City of Bullhead City invites everyone to a ribbon cutting for the newly resurfaced basketball courts at Rotary Park, located at 2315 Balboa Dr, on Thursday, April 11, at 6:30 p.m. The short ceremony will include a few speeches from staff and Mayor Steve D’Amico before a ribbon is ceremonially cut and the courts are opened to the public.

“We know the players are excited to get back on the courts, and we’re excited to reopen them,” said Bullhead City Recreation Superintendent David Heath. We can’t wait to see everyone come out to enjoy!”

The Bullhead City Council approved the budgeted project to resurface the courts during the October 3, 2023, meeting. The $84,092.00 project involved diamond grinding the surface, filling cracks, and painting the surface. The City has also made additional investments in decorative curbing, decomposed granite, and artificial turf to the ground surrounding courts for beautification, water conservation, and long-term maintenance.

“The new surface and paint on the courts will last longer now that we won’t be watering grass right next to the court. That water would leave calcium and salt deposits on the surface, which would degrade it over time,” said Heath. “As a bonus, the new turf and curbing look great.”

“The water savings are significant,” said City Manager Toby Cotter. “These projects add up over time, and they’re an example of how Bullhead City is a leader in water conservation across the southwestern United States.”
