BULLHEAD CITY, AZ., March 14, 2023 – The City of Bullhead City is requesting residents in the Laughlin Ranch and Desert Foothills neighborhoods to conserve water while Bullhead City Utilities works to restore two wells that service the area.
“One well in the area is still functioning, but customers are currently using more water than the City Utility is capable of producing,” said Bullhead City Utilities Director Mark Clark. “We’re asking residents who live in the area to avoid irrigating their outdoor landscapes, filling up their pools, and washing laundry or dishes until the two wells have been restored.”
Both non-functioning wells suffered a failure of their submersible motors which led to further equipment damage. While the city keeps supply of backup parts for these situations, the unique damage to the wells requires parts not ordinarily kept in storage. Supply chain constraints are limiting the city’s ability to receive necessary parts for repair until Thursday.
“We expect to have both wells operating again by Friday at the latest, and we’re actively working to find a solution that will supply customers with all the water they need before then,” Clark said.
The City has mobilized its potable water truck to supply the Laughlin Ranch Clubhouse with water during business hours and will further mobilize the truck to supply water to the system overnight.
“We’re doing everything we can on our end to ensure that our customers water needs are met,” said Clark. “We’re asking the community to do their part to keep the water flowing by being mindful of their neighbors and only using the water that they absolutely need for the next few days. Working together, we can get through this without any further inconveniences.”
