Bullhead Fire Hosts Officer Development Academy 1.0 & 2.0

In partnership with the Kingman Fire Department, the Bullhead Fire Department is honored to host the Officer Development Academy this week, February 28 through March 3, 2022, at the Anderson Auto Group Field House in Bullhead City, Arizona. In addition, the Officer Development Academy 2.0 will take place the following week, March 7 – March 10, 2022.

Bullhead Fire Chief Patrick Moore began the program with introductions and the program layout.

This five-day program is packed with 11 sessions which include:

  • Effective Communications (Instructor: Mark Gaillard, Fire Chief Flagstaff Fire Department)
  • Ethics & Integrity (Instructor: Kane Nixon, Division Chief Arizona Fire & Medical)
  • Hot Topics (Instructor: Patrick Moore, Fire Chief Bullhead City Fire Department)
  • Career Survival (Instructor: Eric Rosoff, Lieutenant (Retired) Burbank Police Department, CA
  • ISO Re-Rate (Instructor: Forrest Taylor, Assistant Chief, Justin Flummer, Assistant Chief Bullhead City Fire Department)

The 5-day academy is a joint effort to focus on Leadership and Management training for the Supervisors of the area Fire Departments. Instructors are current or former Chief Officers from around the State of Arizona. BCFD Fire Chief Patrick Moore stated, “The training is an invaluable opportunity for our personnel to improve their supervisory skills and network with peers throughout the area, and we are

fortunate to have such an outstanding group of instructors willing to present modern leadership and management philosophies to our employees.”

Courses included in the 2.0 Officer Development Academy include.

  • Losing Leadership (Tom Shannon, Fire Chief, Scottsdale Fire Department)
  • Leading Beyond the Slideshow (Instructor: Todd Abel, Battalion Chief, Central Arizona Fire & Medical Authority)
