Bullhead Fire & Kingman Fire Team Up To Host The Leadership Development Academy

In partnership with the Kingman Fire Department, the Bullhead City Fire Department is honored to host the Leadership Development Academy, which is currently in session. The specialized training classes began the week of January 20 -21 and will continue January 27-29th, 2021, at the Anderson Field House in Bullhead City, Arizona. A total of thirty participants from eight surrounding departments are in attendance, including members from Bullhead Fire and the Kingman Fire Department.

Bullhead Fire Chief Patrick Moore began the program with introductions and the program layout. This five-day program is packed with 11 sessions, which include:

  • Leadership and Responsibility in Todays Fire Service

(Instructor: Paul Luizzi, Fire Chief Goodyear Fire Department)

  • Communication and Conflict Resolution

(Instructor: Mark Gaillard, Fire Chief Flagstaff Fire Department)

  • How Organizations get into Trouble

(Instructor: Tom Shannon, Fire Chief Scottsdale Fire Chief)

  • Losing Leadership

(Instructor: Tom Shannon, Fire Chief Scottsdale Fire Department)

  • Leadership –The Forced Hands of Change

(Instructor: Tim Sendelbach, Assistant Fire Chief Kingman Fire Department)

  • Leading Change

  • Hot Topics Affecting Leadership Roundtable

 The 5-day academy is a joint effort to focus on Leadership and Management Training for Supervisors of the area Fire Departments. Instructors are current or former Chief Officers from around the State of Arizona. BCFD Fire Chief Patrick Moore stated, “The training is an invaluable opportunity for our personnel to improve their supervisory skills and network with peers throughout the area, and we are fortunate to have such an outstanding group of instructors willing to present modern leadership and management philosophies to our employees.”
