Bullhead City, AZ., September 27, 2022- The City of Bullhead City will reopen bathroom and locker room facilities at the municipal pool Thursday, September 29, after making emergency renovations during the summer. City staff discovered significant termite damage to the roof of the building during routine maintenance in the late spring.
“The last thing we wanted to do was close the pool bathrooms during the summer,” said Parks Superintendent David Heath. “When staff discovered the damage, we had to close the building to keep the public safe.”
The building renovations include structural repairs, enhancements, and cosmetic upgrades.
“We were already doing a lot of work replacing the roof, so we took the opportunity to replace the swamp coolers with air conditioning units, replace the drywall, replace the lighting, add new lockers, floor mats, countertops, and privacy walls,” said Public Works Director Angie Johnson. “We’ll be replacing the pool floor in the near future, and we’ll redo the bathroom floors at the same time.”
“Don’t forget, we installed netting on the roof to keep the pigeons out,” Heath said.
The public is invited to visit the pool and see the upgrades Thursday.
