City To Open New Bullhead City Senior Campus

The City is preparing to unveil its newly remodeled Senior Nutrition Center. Residents of all ages will soon see the tremendous improvements made to the facility through a contract with Precise Construction as part of the Community Development Block Grant program. Currently, the Senior Nutrition Center, located at 2275 Trane Road, is undergoing a major remodel with operations being run from the Senior Activity Center at 2285 Trane Road.

Final preparations are underway for the Nutrition Center’s Grand Reopening scheduled for Friday, May 21 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The general public is invited to check out the newly remodeled Nutrition Center and learn more about the “Meals on Wheels” program for homebound individuals. There will be music and fun provided by Kid N’ Nic Duo Show.  All seniors 60+ are invited to partake in a free catered lunch provided by “Meals on Wheels” community partner Western Arizona Regional Medical Center. Lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., on this one day only. All others are welcome to lunch for $4. Please call (928) 758-1538 to reserve lunch.  After May 21, congregate lunches will be offered to seniors 60+, Monday through Friday from 11:30 am to 12 p.m. with a suggested $3.00 donation.

In July of 2020, the City of Bullhead City took on a more active role and began managing the Senior Activity Center in addition to programs offered at the Senior Nutrition Center. Senior Services Program Manager Kim Cool has been working with multiple community partners to ensure a diverse activity schedule to appeal to all seniors. Activities include games, exercise, education, socialization and celebrations. Cool stated, “We are always looking for more activities and I am open to listen to anyone who is willing to volunteer and create activities that will appeal to more seniors.” Volunteer opportunities include: leaders to take charge of activities, kitchen service and cleaning, office help, and “Meals on Wheels” drivers/delivery personnel.

In an effort to ensure our seniors are connected with necessary community partners the Senior Campus sponsors a Collaborative Resource Exchange Event quarterly. The event is an opportunity for businesses to call into a google meets video chat and share a quick recap of what they offer and their contact information. The stream is broadcast live on the Campus TV. The next quarterly meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, May 11 at 9 a.m. To participate follow this link: meeting.google.com/kzt-qwjb-ngk or dial 1-219-401-0122 PIN 813766234#. Everyone is welcome to learn and share. This next event will also be recorded and shared through various media outlets.

To learn more now or volunteer at the Senior Campus, please stop by our Activity Center location at 2285 Trane Road or call Kim Cool at (928) 758-1538.
