Cornfest Organizers: Decision Day Is Close

The Bullhead City-based Kiwanis Club of the Colorado River, also known as “The Noon Club,” says an official decision as to whether or not the 2020 Cornfest event will be held as scheduled will be made this Friday morning, October 9.
“We have the food permits for our vendors and our event committee has been working diligently and proceeding as scheduled,” said Cornfest Committee Chairman Clay Parker. “We have also been working hand-in-hand with the city on a COVID-19 Plan.”
The two-day event is planned for Friday and Saturday, October 23 and 24. The large-scale family friendly fall festival returns to the corner of Highway 95 and Marina Boulevard, at the newly improved Gary Keith Park.
Parker adds that, “The committee is also exploring the possibility of having a non-alcoholic event if we are unable to get the liquor license due to the Governor’s executive orders. But all the vendors, community volunteers, non-profits, the entertainment for both days and the 10-thousand square foot haunted house volunteers are all giving us the thumbs up.”
The official decision for the fate of this year’s Cornfest event will come Friday morning, after an important planning session with the city manager’s office.
Parker adds that numerous online posts and rumors in the community have mentioned the event as being canceled, which he and his fellow Kiwanians vehemently deny. In fact, Parker says the confusion may be with the recently canceled Oktoberfest, where the decision to cancel was made by the Ambassadors of the Bullhead Area Chamber.
Meanwhile, the very popular “Scream In The Dark” haunted house is listed online as taking place on October 23rd and 24th (during the Cornfest), and special performances on the 27th, 30th and Halloween Night. Hours of operation for the haunted house are listed on the Cornfest website.
Entertainment will take place on two stages, featuring The Kid and Nic Show on Friday night starting at 6pm on the main stage, with local rockers BlackcatX Classic Rock & Blues headlining the venue on Saturday night. Local favorite DJ Loke is also scheduled to DJ both days from Stage Two.
A complete listing of events can be found at the 2020 Cornfest website, at cornfestbhc.com.
