County Gets 10,000 Moderna Doses

& 500 Johnson & Johnson Doses Next Week

Lake Havasu City Event Successful

MOHAVE COUNTY, AZ (March 18, 2021) –Mohave County will receive 10,000 doses of the Moderna vaccine next week, an increase of 2,000 doses from recent weeks.  The county will also be getting 500 doses of the newly approved Johnson & Johnson vaccine. County Health Director Denise Burley said “this increased allocation will be helpful to meet our goal of increasing the number of people vaccinated in Mohave County.” Burley added that it’s important to note that “no adverse medical reactions from the vaccine have been reported in the County since administering began.”

Also, yesterday’s Mohave County/Safeway vaccination event was successful in administering shots to 487, out of 500 planned.  There were 13 no shows. The remainder of those doses were taken back to Safeway and utilized in its store. The staff from Safeway has indicated that there would be no issue in administering those 13 shots, so there are no wasted doses.

The majority of the Lake Havasu City event was staffed by volunteers from the Mohave County MRC program, Lake Havasu City CERT and the Arizona National Guard.  Without these volunteer resources the event would not have been possible. Vaccinations were administered by Safeway staff, with additional Safeway staff assisting in the registration process

At this time, Mohave County continues restricting eligibility for the vaccine to all individuals in the 1A category and those in the 1B sub-categories, Protective Services Occupations, those 65 Years and Older and Educators/Child Care Workers. These restrictions are necessary at this time due to the high demand for the vaccine in the 65 & Older group and the scarcity of the vaccine itself. A move to the 55 & Older 1B sub-category is expected soon.

Here is the current list of the vaccine providers and how to make appointments via phone and website:
