MOHAVE COUNTY, AZ (February 2, 2021) – There’s a new team in town–an outreach street team made up of local community partners on a mission to save lives. The new Mohave County Street Team Outreach program offers harm reduction tools through education and on-the-spot testing for hepatitis C and HIV. Substance abuse and mental health counselors are also on-hand. Mohave County Department of Public Health, in collaboration with Southwest Medical, Sonoran Prevention Works, Summer’s Dawn Treatment Center, Compassus Care, North Country HealthCare, Community Medical Services and KRMC, will be visiting a rural area once a month.

At each event, the team will provide harm reduction tools, training on how to use those tools, and educational materials and information on services that are available county-wide. The Street Team works directly with clients to establish care and assists in locating available resources when needed. Collectively, the team brings clothing, toiletries and other items that might also be of need. While rural areas are the main focus for the outreach team, there will also be events in the larger cities.

Upcoming events:

February 25, 2022 from noon-2 p.m. at Community Medical Services: 1115 Stockton Hill Rd., Kingman.

March 17, 2022 from noon – 2 p.m. at the Mohave County Community Library, 13136 Golden Shores Parkway, Golden Shores.

Events will be posted on the Mohave County Department of Public Health Facebook page (@MohaveHealthInfo) as well as on local community pages. For more information on the street team outreach events, please contact Danielle Lagana at 928-260-6757 or email at
