Cracked windshield leads to carjacking suspects arrests

Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Deputies arrested Jesse McQuade Dawson, 25 of Newton, AZ, and Stephanie Lynn Sparks, 38 of Newton, AZ. On Monday (2/3) at approximately 11 AM, deputies observed a
sedan with a Colorado license plate stopped at the intersection of Stockton Hill Rd. and Sycamore Ave. and observed the vehicle to have a cracked windshield. A records check was conducted on the license plate,
and results showed the car had been stolen in a carjacking incident. The vehicle turned onto Sycamore Ave. and deputies continued to follow from a safe distance. Deputies observed two occupants in the vehicle, a
male with short hair, and female with pulled back hair. When the vehicle pulled into the parking lot of a business in the 1700 block of Beverly Ave., deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop, however the vehicle
took off at a high rate of speed. A pursuit ensued and the vehicle ran several stop signs in an attempt to get away from the deputy. Deputies lost sight of the vehicle, but located the vehicle a few moments later
abandoned in the 3900 block of Raymond Ave. Kingman Police Department responded to the scene and assisted in setting up a perimeter to search for the suspects. Both suspects were located shortly after in the
parking lot of a nearby business and taken into custody.

Jesse McQuade Dawson, the driver of the vehicle, was charged with Theft of Means of Transportation, Unlawful Flight from Law Enforcement, both felonies, and misdemeanor Resisting Arrest.Stephanie Lynn
Sparks was arrested for felony Theft of Means of Transportation and misdemeanor Resisting Arrest. Both were transported to the Mohave County Adult Detention Facility without incident.
