Hyundai Hope On Wheels(HHOW) is a beautiful organization, the more I hear about it thee more I want to get involved. HHOW helps in the fight against childhood cancer. I had to know how Hyundai Hope On Wheels helped so I looked them up, and the eyes started welling up. First, I read HHOW’s story.
In 1998, Hyundai and a group of New England-area dealers joined the fight against pediatric cancer by supporting a local initiative to support the Jimmy Fund at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. This activity quickly grew nationwide and soon became Hyundai Hope On Wheels (HHOW). HHOW is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, that is committed to helping kids fight cancer. The goals of the organization are to fund research and to create awareness for childhood cancer. Hyundai Motor America and its more than 830 dealers and customers support the cause with a donation from every new vehicle sold. In 2019, HHOW will surpass $160 million in life-time donations to pediatric cancer research in the United States.
Alright so the story of HHOW isn’t so heart wrenching…but then you meet an ambassador.
Elizabeth, 13
“Beauty comes from within the heart”
On August 18, 2011, I became one of 43 children diagnosed with childhood cancer that day. I was diagnosed with Stage IV Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoblast Lymphoma, a cancer that affects white blood cells in the blood. I am proud to say that I am a pediatric cancer survivor. Pediatric cancer is the hardest thing I have ever had to deal with, but I am strong. I am powerful. I am brave, and I can do hard things! Although I had lost so much, I never ever lost HOPE. Hope kept me strong. Hope helped me stay positive. Hope was always my rainbow. To others out there fighting this same fight, I ask you to believe in hope, and I know it will get you through the hard days
I am so honored to be a Hyundai Hope On Wheels National Youth Ambassador because I believe making cancer better for kids all starts with awareness. I look forward to this amazing opportunity to share my story and create more awareness. More awareness can lead to more funding and more funding can lead to more research. And research is the key to finding a cure for kids like me.
OMG right! Reading the quote from this 13 year old girl about her experience, strength, and hope was all in all inspiring. The courage you must have to fight against such a terrible disease is unimagenable for me. This young ammbassador is going to be a shinning light in the darkness newly diagnosed kids will face. HHOW will give Elizabeth the opprotunity to share her story with more children giving them the opprotunity to also harness that seedling of hope. Nurturing that seedling until it blossoms and creates a hopeful and couragous child that is willing to fight just like Elizabeth did. Thank you Hyundai Hope On Wheels for ddoing what you do to help with the oblivion of pediatric cancer.
