Diver Injured During Search For Boating Victim’s Expected To Make Full Recovery

TOPOCK–A diver assisting in the search and rescue for four victim’s from a boat crash was injured Monday afternoon.

According to a release by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office the diver is a detective with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office and was assisting with dive operations when he suffered minor injures related to diving.

The detective, whose identity was not released, was taken by ground ambulance to Havasu Airport around 4 p.m. He was subsequently airlifted to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center for further treatment.

Officials stated the detective has 15 years experience with the SBCSO dive team and has been involved with the search over the past two days. He reportedly has executed ten dives during this time.

A close source to the incident told The Bee on Monday, the detective is recuperating and is expected to make a full recovery.

“He is getting very good medical treatment. We appreciate all the prayers and kind words from everyone.”

The search continues today for the two missing women involved in the crash.
