Dixie Wildland Fire Assignment

Bullhead Fire Department’s Battalion Chief Marvin McCabe, Engineer Kenny Read, Captain Rex Sandoval, and FF/Paramedic Evan Smith are heading to California this afternoon (08/25/2021) to assist with the Dixie Fire, which is actively burning in Butte, Plumas, Lassen, and Tehama County.  The Dixie fire began on July 13, 2021, and is only at 45% contained at this time. The four-person crew will be manning our Type III Engine, B713.

Wildland engines are specially designed for the technique of pump-and-roll. They are required to have a minimum of 500 US gallons of water and pump 150 US gallons per minute at a pressure of 250 pounds per square inch.

The length of their assignment is unknown at this time; typically, it may run up to 14 days. We urge everyone to be fire-wise because Fire is everyone’s fight!
