DROWNING – LAKE HAVASU CITY

On Saturday (9/5) at approximately 5:09 PM, The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Division of Boating Safety responded to the area of Steamboat Cove on Lake Havasu, in reference to a drowning. While en route, Deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Marine Enforcement Unit arrived on scene and located a 42 year old female who was being tended to by multiple subjects in the water.

Deputies loaded the female onto their patrol boat, and began CPR. Deputies with the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office arrived on scene. A River Medical paramedic that was on board of the MCSO boat took over care of the female, and she was transported to The Lake Havasu Water Safety Center. The female was then transported to Havasu Regional Medical Center in extremely critical condition. Through investigations, it was determined that the female, who was swimming off of the beach while in Steamboat Cove, began to struggle while in approximately 7 feet of water. When she disappeared under the water, several Good Samaritans began a search, eventually locating her. Swimming ability was found to be a factor in this incident.
