Early Monday (06/13) morning at approximately 1:00 A.M., multiple units were dispatched to a reported structure fire on the 1000 block of Calle De Allegro.   Dispatch advised the responding units that callers were reporting an explosion was heard and that a child may still be inside of the home.  Battalion Chief Campbell immediately requested additional resources to respond due to a potential rescue.  The first arriving unit reported a fully involved mobile home with heavy fire conditions and quickly confirmed that all occupants had evacuated the home. Due to the extreme amount of smoke, medic units treated and transferred four patients to WARMC , two with severe smoke inhalation. BC Campbell assumed command, requesting MEC for a downed power line, Southwest gas, and additional resources, including CERT, Fire Investigators, and the Red Cross.

In addition, Fort Mojave BAT9 assisted command-moving unit M921 to assist other Bullhead crews that were not assigned to the incident to cover additional calls.  After a lengthy firefight, crews began the overhaul process; during this time, two of the occupant’s dogs were sadly located deceased.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation; however, Fire Investigators found that the home did not have any working smoke alarms. The occupants were extremely fortunate; they were able to escape through nearby windows.

We would like to remind all citizens to check their smoke alarms and ensure that working alarms are in every bedroom, outside of every sleeping area, hallway, and living room/den area. If you need assistance or have questions about your smoke alarms, please call our Community Risk Reduction Division at 928-758-3971.

Responding units included BAT7, E711, M711, E761, E751, M751E721M731, RH719, FI707, FI708, and Fort Mojave Fire BAT9
