BULLHEAD CITY, Ariz. – September 6, 2022 – On Sunday, September 4 at about 7 p.m., emergency crews responded to Highway 68 near Verde Canyon Drive for a single vehicle rollover.

It was reported that a family left Community Park beach due to an incoming storm. The family, in a white 2022 GMC Sierra pickup truck, was headed eastbound on Highway 68. Another family member reportedly called and requested they come back to the park and pick them up. After making a U-turn on Highway 68, the vehicle began traveling westbound on Highway 68 back towards the park. In the area of Highway 68 east of Verde Canyon Drive, the vehicle lost control and rolled down an embankment.

The backseat male passenger – 19-year-old Andy Espinoza of Fontana, CA – was ejected from the vehicle. Officers on scene administered CPR until Bullhead City Fire paramedics arrived and took control of all lifesaving efforts. Andy Espinoza was pronounced deceased by medical personnel on scene.

The male driver, female front seat passenger (Espinoza’s parents) and an 8-year-old rear seat passenger (brother) were treated for minor injuries at Western Arizona Regional Medical Center.

Heavy rain and strong winds were reportedly contributing factors in the collision. The driver’s blood was drawn at the hospital for further testing for possible impairment.

The fatal crash is still under investigation.
