On Wednesday, March 15th, at about 4:00pm, the Kingman Police Department responded to a serious injury crash in the area of Plaza Drive and North Stockton Hill Road. A four-door sedan driven by a 76-year-old female from Kingman, exited Plaza Dr and drove into the southbound lanes of Stockton Hill Rd and stopped blocking traffic while attempting to turn northbound. A sport-utility vehicle travelling southbound attempted to swerve and miss the sedan but the sedan accelerated into the path of the SUV. Damage to the sedan was severe and the driver and sole occupant had to be extricated by the Kingman Fire Department. The SUV also sustained heavy front-end damage. The driver of the SUV was transported to Kingman Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the sedan was transported to Kingman Regional Medical Center where she later died as a result of the injuries. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts, impairment is not suspected and no charges have been filed. The investigation is ongoing pending lab results and notification of next of kin.
