Bullhead City, AZ -On Thursday, March 28, 2019, at approximately 8:55 a.m. three engines and two rescue units were dispatched to the 1400 block of Plata Dr. for a reported structure fire. Arriving units reported heavy smoke coming from the front of a doublewide mobile home. Crews quickly confirmed that all of the occupants had safely evacuated the residence along with their small dogs. Shortly after, Battalion Chief Flummer arrived on scene taking command requesting MEC (Mohave Electric Company), SW GAS and a fire investigator. Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze quickly but noted heavy smoke damage throughout the home utilizing the TIC (Thermal Imaging Camera) to locate additional hot spots in the ceiling area.
After completing the overhaul process, all units were cleared from the scene. At approximately 1:00 p.m. firefighters were called back to the location for a reported rekindle. Locating light smoke, crews pulled a hose line extinguishing the smoldering materials. No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time.
