MOHAVE COUNTY, AZ (November 24, 2021) –The first annual Candlelight Vigil and Celebration of Life will begin on Wednesday, December 1 at 2315 Balboa Dr., Rotary Park in Bullhead city starting at 5pm and going until 7pm. Together with the Mohave County community partners, this family-friendly event will raise awareness while providing a safe space for a moment of grieving.

“It’s been a tough year and a half,” said Danielle Lagana, HIV Health Educator for Mohave County Department of Public Health. “This event originally started out as the AIDS Day celebration and quickly morphed into something much bigger.” Lagana added, “with all the deaths by suicide and other deaths that could be avoided with early intervention, we felt teaming up with our community partners and putting this event on would be a great place to start healing.

But it doesn’t end there. Lagana says, “we’re also taking time to celebrate those we loved while providing education and awareness to members of our community.”

Community partners available during the event include Arizona Youth Partnership, MAPPED, North Country HealthCare, WARMC, MCDPH Opioid Prevention, Community Medical Services, BHC Pride Center, Arizona Department of Veteran Services, Hope United Methodist Church, WestCare, and Summer’s Dawn.

Vendors will be sharing free swag and providing information on available services and resources. It’s open for anyone and everyone needing closure and/or assistance. All are welcome.

Candles and refreshments will be provided, courtesy of Desert Lawn. I <3 Tacos will have food available for purchase. For more information about this event or to be a vendor, please contact Dani Lagana at 928-260-6757 or email laganad@mohave.gov.
