Tomorrow 6/20/19 starts the first day that the HOV Lanes will be fully operational and active. Motorists traveling in the HOV/Car Pool lane are required to have at least 2 occupants in the vehicle. Motorcycles are exempt from this provision and are allowed in the HOV/Car pool lane. Emergency vehicles with emergency lighting on or off are also exempt and allowed to travel in the HOV/Car pool lane. Trucks with more then 2 axles are not allowed and hybrid/electric vehicles must have 2 occupants.

Motorists who disregard the HOV Lane Restrictions will be given a citation for $250, motorists who cross the solid double line will be given a citation for Failing to Obey a Traffic Control Device.
NHP will not be doing interviews or ride alongs in regards to the HOV/Car pool lanes. HOV Lanes are nothing new to southern Nevada. We have had them on the US95 for over a decade. The new stretch of HOV/Car pool lanes restrictions mirror our neighboring states. The HOV/Car pool lanes are active 24/7 simplifying those restrictions for motorists.
