The word on the street is Wow!
It didn’t take long for Governor Ducey’s “Back To Work” program to earn praise in Arizona and beyond. The program means an end to the Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation. Instead it will offer one-time bonuses to returning workers, along with child care support, educational opportunities and rental assistance.
Governor Ducey’s program will help Arizonans connect with job opportunities and support employers looking to fill positions. Here’s what people across the state have to say about the program:
“The Greater Phoenix Chamber commends Governor Ducey’s (@dougducey) commitment to getting Arizonans back to work. We are pleased to see that when eligible workers return to the workplace, they will receive a $2,000 bonus as an incentive to help revive our economy. Arizona continues to lead the way in recovering stronger than ever.” (5/13/21)
“Arizona small businesses applaud the governor’s action on this. NFIB’s latest Small Business Economic Trends report showed a record 44% of small-business owners unable to fill open positions, and overly generous UI benefits one of the reasons.” (5/13/21)
“NEWS: Gov. @dougducey announces “Arizona Back to Work” plan to help fill job demand.

“Gov. Doug Ducey announced on Twitter Thursday morning that effective July 10, the state will no longer take federal money for supplemental unemployment benefits. Ducey said instead, the state will offer one-time bonuses to returning workers, along with child care support, educational opportunities, and rental assistance.” (5/13/21)
“We applaud the Governor’s plan to support Arizonans getting back to work, and fill the thousands of jobs available across the state. We know countless businesses across the state are ready to hire, and the Back to Work program will ensure Arizona’s continued economic recovery!” (5/13/21)

“These supplemental unemployment benefits are making it harder for small businesses to hire people and are hindering our economic recovery. Paying some people more on unemployment than they made working full-time, even as their jobs are in demand, is counterproductive to recovery.
