BULLHEAD CITY, Ariz. – December 21, 2022 – The Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) graciously awarded the Bullhead City Police Department grants in the amount of $40,000 for DUI enforcement and $22,000 for traffic enforcement.
The grants will primarily fund overtime for officers to target DUI and traffic violators, but will also be used to purchase portable breath test (PBT) devices, radar and lidar units, and a traffic cloud subscription that supports existing speed display signs throughout the city.

“I want to thank the men and women of the Bullhead City Police Department for their dedicated work in DUI and traffic enforcement. GOHS Director Gutier is a staunch proponent of pay-for-performance and the work we have done here in our city is the reason we were awarded the largest GOHS grants our organization has ever seen,” said Traffic Section Supervisor Corporal Eddie Espinoza. “We have seen a continuous uptick in speeding and impairment-related collisions and these grants will help us maintain our presence and organize saturation patrols to deal with these issues before they turn into collisions.”

The grants were effective October 1, 2022, and cover activities through September 30, 2023.
