On Wednesday (8/10) at approximately 4:47 AM, Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to the 600 block of Santa Maria Rd. in Golden Valley for a reported home invasion. It was reported that three subjects had come to the residence wearing camouflaged clothing and face masks, identifying themselves as being with the U.S. Marshal’s Office and demanding entry into the residence. The occupants of the residence requested the subjects show their identification to confirm they were in fact with the Marshal’s Office. The suspects were unable to show any law enforcement credentials and the residents refused to allow the subjects in. At this time, the suspects forcibly removed a security screen door and kicked in the door to the residence. The three subjects were armed with a shotgun, a rifle, two handguns, and a baseball bat. One of the three occupants of the residence was taken to a back room. One of the male suspects then began striking the other two occupants several times with a baseball bat. The suspects then fled the scene. The two injured occupants were transported to Kingman Regional Medical Center by ambulance for blunt force trauma and possible broken bones. Both victims are expected to survive their injuries. Detectives with the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office responded and assumed the investigation. The investigation led Detectives to the 7900 block of Highway 68 where several subjects were contacted and interviewed. A search warrant was served on four different residences. Two subjects, identified as Mark Hutchins Jr., 35, and Jason Wortman, 46, both of Golden Valley, were taken into custody during this time. The guns, bat, clothing, and masks used during this incident were recovered. Detectives located the third suspect, identified as Humberto Perez, 60 of Golden Valley, in Las Vegas where he was taken into custody with the assistance of the FBI Criminal Apprehension Team. The investigation by Detectives revealed that Perez had recently been served with an Order of Protection by one of the victims, his estranged wife, due to previous domestic violence issues and was removed from the Santa Maria residence approximately one month prior. Prior to this incident, Perez had enlisted the help of
Hutchins and Wortman to go to his previous address to collect some property. Perez asked for help under the pretense that his estranged wife’s new boyfriend was physically abusing his handicapped son. The men armed themselves and drove to the residence. Once at the home, Perez escorted his adult son to a back room. Perez then came out and began to strike both his estranged wife and her mother with the baseball bat. Both Wortman and Hutchins verbally and physically stopped Perez from continuing the assault and all three then fled the residence. Hutchins and Wortman were booked into the Mohave County Adult Detention Facility, each for one count of Burglary and two counts of Aggravated Assault, all felonies. Humberto Perez was booked into the Clark County Detention Center where he awaits extradition back to Arizona for one count of Burglary and two counts of Aggravated Assault by Domestic Violence, all felonies.

  1. These guys need to be locked up for a long time. I work as a Mohave Fugitive Recovery Agent and we have a great reputation with law enforcement. It’s disappointing to see imposters ruining a reputable profession.
