BULLHEAD CITY, Ariz. – August 31, 2020 – The Bullhead City Police Department is investigating a homicide. Officers arrested Chester Grant Pollard Espinoza, 24 of Bullhead City, for first degree murder.
On Sunday, August 30 at approximately 3:40 p.m., Western Arizona Regional Medical Center called police for a female brought to the emergency room with gunshot wounds. The victim, 67-year-old Katherine Louise Humula, was flown with life-threatening injuries to a Las Vegas, NV hospital where she was pronounced deceased later that evening.
Through further investigation, police learned that Chester Pollard Espinoza lived with his grandmother and her best friend, Katherine Humula, in the 1100 block of Zircon Avenue. Pollard Espinoza reportedly considered Humula as his “Aunt”. It was reported that Pollard Espinoza thought Humula was “evil,” so he shot her in her legs/torso area. Humula was able to get to her vehicle in an attempt to flee, however, Pollard Espinoza then shot her in her head while she was in the vehicle. Pollard Espinoza’s grandmother drove Humula to the hospital.
Police quickly responded to their Zircon residence and arrested Pollard Espinoza. He was later booked into the Mohave County Jail in Kingman.
