UPDATE (03/08/21): HOMICIDE- KINGMAN
The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Detectives are continuing their investigation into a shooting/ aggravated assault incident that occurred on Wednesday (3/3). At approximately 9:39 PM, Deputies responded to the 2600 block of Potter Ave. in reference to a subject being shot. The investigation revealed that Jason Allen Campbell, 39 of Kingman, had shot the victim, identified as Steven Lee Fritz, 49 of Kingman. Campbell then fled the scene on foot but was later apprehended by Deputies and Detectives. Fritz was transported to Kingman Regional Medical Center and later transported by helicopter to a Las Vegas hospital, however later succumbed to his injuries. Jason Allen Campbell is now facing an addition charge of 2nd Degree Murder. This investigation is ongoing.
ORIGINAL (03/04/21): ATTEMPTED MURDER/ AGGRAVATED ASSAULT- KINGMAN
On Wednesday (3/3) at approximately 9:39 PM, Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to the 2600 block of Potter Ave. in reference to a subject being shot. Upon arrival, Deputies observed an adult male victim with a gunshot wound to the chest. The victim was transported to Kingman Regional Medical Center and later transported by helicopter to a Las Vegas hospital where he is currently listed in critical condition. The suspect had fled the scene prior to law enforcement arrival.
Detectives with the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. During the course of the investigation, the suspect in the shooting was identified as Jason Allen Campbell, 39 of Kingman. Detectives and Deputies began an extensive search of the area in an attempt to locate Campbell who had fled in a vehicle.
At approximately 2:21 AM on Thursday (3/4), information was received that Campbell was currently at a residence in the 2200 block of Leroy Ave. Detectives and Deputies responded to the residence where Campbell was found to be threatening the two occupants of the residence. Campbell fired at one of the victims, striking him in the arm. The round went through the victims arm and lodged in their leg. Campbell then fled the residence and a foot pursuit ensued. Detectives and Deputies ultimately took Campbell into custody without further incident. Campbell was still in possession of the firearm at the time of his arrest.
Campbell was also found to be in possession of a usable quantity of methamphetamine. The victim was transported to the Kingman Regional Medical Center where he is currently listed in stable condition. Campbell was transported to the Mohave County Adult Detention Facility where he was booked for Attempted Murder, two counts of Aggravated Assault, and Possession of Dangerous Drugs, all felonies.
