MOHAVE COUNTY–Incumbent Board of Supervisor District 5 candidate Lois Wakimoto is trailing behind opponent Ron Gould by nearly 20 percent, according to early results from the Mohave County Elections Department.

The website shows Wakimoto with 1,891 (40%) votes and Lake Havasu resident Ron Gould with 2,799 (59%) votes. So far, results show 4,969 ballots have been cast in the Mohave County Board of Supervisors race as of 11 p.m. Tuesday night.

Wakimoto was appointed to her seat in 2016 after Steven Moss was selected to fill an open seat as a Mohave County Superior Court judge. Over the past year-and-a-half, Wakimoto has been tackling several issues such as the Mohave Valley Irrigation and Drainage water rights in her district.

Gould, who resides in Lake Havasu City, once served in the Arizona Senate and is a local business owner.
