On Thursday (4/14), the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office received a call that a 38-year-old female hiker needed help. She was hiking with a group of friends in Grapevine Canyon, northeast of Meadview, and had injured her ankle. A friend in her group hiked out to call for help and Lake Mohave Ranchos Fire responded and began rendering first aid. Due to the ruggedness of their location, it was determined that a short-haul using the DPS Flagstaff Ranger Helicopter and a Rescue Technician from Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue was necessary. The hiker was short-hauled to an awaiting ambulance, then transported to a Careflight Medical Helicopter waiting at the Command Post and then taken to Kingman Regional Medical Hospital for further medical evaluation.
