The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office has completed the investigation into the December 10th officer involved shooting incident that occurred inside a business in the 1700 block of Kiowa Ave in Lake Havasu City, AZ. Upon completion of the investigation of this incident, the report was sent to Yavapai County Attorney’s Office for review.

This investigation was sent to the Yavapai County Attorney’s Office for an independent analysis of the entire incident. Mohave County Sheriff’s Office received the Yavapai County Attorney’s Office response, stating that, “Upon review of the case file, it is readily apparent that no evidence exists to indicate any wrongdoing on the part of the involved officers from the Lake Havasu Police Department.”

Their review further added, “Mr. Douglas’ legal situation, consumption of heroin, and his possession of a quantity of illegal heroin at the time of the
incident played a role in the poor decisions he made that day. However, by acting as he did in that situation, Mr. Douglas placed Sgt. Jacobs in fear of his fellow officer or himself being seriously injured or killed if he did not act with timely and appropriate force.”
