“Norma treated everyone she encountered with exceptional kindness and warmth,” stated Bullhead City Mayor Steve D’Amico. “Her presence will be greatly missed in our community and in our council meetings.”
Vice Mayor Brummett was elected to the Bullhead City Council in August of 2020 to a term expiring in November 2024 and was selected by the council to serve as vice mayor in June of 2022. Brummett also served as a board member of the Bullhead City Fire District since 2019. Prior to serving as a Bullhead City Council Member, Brummett served four years as a Planning and Zoning Commissioner and a Franchise License Commissioner for Bullhead City.
“The loss of Norma hits the City very hard,” said City Manager Toby Cotter. “Not only have we lost an impassioned policymaker, we have lost a cherished friend. Norma’s gentle and positive personality were an absolute treasure to experience.”
Brummett’s dedication to public service extended well beyond local government organizations. Locally, Brummett served as Secretary for the Colorado River Women’s Council, Chairperson for the Colorado River Women’s Council Leadership Program, and Secretary for the Colorado River Republican Women. In addition, Brummett was a financial supporter for the Colorado River Concert Association, the Colorado River Historical Society, and a volunteer for the BHHS Legacy Foundation’s Backpack Buddies Program.
Brummett also served the community of Mount Vernon Washington as a City Council Member for sixteen years, and six years as a Skagit County Auditor for which she was recognized as Auditor of the Year by Secretary of State Sam Reed. Brummett served as a board member for the Mount Vernon Chamber of Commerce, earning the Bernadette Roozen- Miller (Bernie) Award and the Upbeat Award. Other organizations Brummett served in Mount Vernon include Washington State Association County Auditors Board, Morning Kiwanis Club, Mount Vernon Republican Women’s Club Board, Skagit County Republican Party Board, Economic Development Alliance of Skagit County, and the Skagit County Community Action Board.
