CANDIDATE: Bullhead City Mayor
EXPERIENCE: Moved from Two Rivers, Wisconsin to Bullhead City in 1985 with his late wife Mary of 42 years to accept a position with the Bullhead City Police Department. He still owns a home in Wisconsin where he and his current wife Janice vacations. He has been a resident of Bullhead City for over 33 years. Jerry served his community in Wisconsin for 13 years as a police officer with the City of Two Rivers Police Department and established the Police School Liaison program in the cities public school system. He retired after 22 years of service with the Bullhead City Police Department. He was elected to two terms on the Bullhead City Council of which two years he served as Vice Mayor, and served six years as Board Member on the Bullhead City Elementary School District Board #15 from 2004 – 2010. Jerry is a member of Saint Margaret Mary’s Catholic Church. Was a founding member of the Bullhead City Police Department, where he established the School Resource Officer Program in the Bullhead City public school system. When school wasn’t in session Jerry was an officer assigned to the Bullhead City Watercraft Division patrolling the Colorado River. President/Vice President of Bullhead City Police Officers Association, he helped to establish the first labor agreement between the City of Bullhead City and the Bullhead City Police Officers Association and acted as a contract negotiator for the Bullhead City Police Officers Association.
EDUCATION: Graduate of Fox Valley Technical Institute in Appleton, Wisconsin. Kansas State University for Law Enforcement. Numerous certificates that include State of Wisconsin Police Officer, FEMA, National Association of School Resource Officers training, AZ Game & Fish Academy for Boating.
MILITARY AFFILIATION: Served in the United States Army from 1968 to 1972 before receiving an honorable discharge at the rank of Sergeant E-5.
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENTS: Participated in every Bullhead Council meeting while seated. Chairman of both the Arizona Public Safety Retirement Board, the Bullhead City Homeless Task Force, Council Liaison to the Bullhead City Parks and Recreation commission, a founding Board member of the Boys and Girls Club and established the Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) club, The Crime Stoppers club in the Bullhead City public schools.
SIGNIFICANT AWARDS: Juvenile Crime Prevention Programming Award from the Arizona Crime Prevention Association 1988, Unit Citation from the Bullhead City Police Department 2001 and 2004, Police Chief’s Significant Operation Service Award 2002, Police Department Commendation 1992, Rotary Club Officer of the Year 1989, Distinguished Police Service Medal 1995, Police commendation Medals 1997 and 2000, State of Arizona Watercraft Officer of the Year 2001.
