Kingman, AZ – Community members have been busy caring for Kingman this past month, taking part in community cleanups and recycling efforts that brought volunteers and local organizations together. More than 100 volunteers participated in Kingman’s annual Day of Caring on Saturday, September 12. Organized by River Cities United Way with support from the City of Kingman’s Solid Waste Department and Clean City Commission, the event brought volunteers to areas throughout the city to remove litter.

Volunteers collected more than 130 bags of trash and the Clean City Commission also conducted an Adopt-a-Highway cleanup. That weekend, the City also made roll-off drop-off sites available to residents, collecting an additional 8.9 tons of trash and debris.

A technology recycling drive hosted by the MC4 Club with Mohave Community College drew more than 64 vehicles to the City’s Public Works parking lot the following weekend, where residents dropped off electronic waste for proper disposal.

“These events would not be possible without the dedication of our incredible community partners,” said Eddie Tapia, Kingman’s Solid Waste Supervisor. “We’re grateful to the volunteers and sponsors who gave their time and support to make a difference across Kingman.”

The City of Kingman thanks everyone who participated, along with the following sponsors and supporting organizations: All Out Racing, Century 21 Highland, Foothills Bank, Girl Scout Troop 7478, Kingman Pickleball Club, Kingman Rotary, LWHS S Club, Mohave County Democratic Central Committee, Optimum, Rotary Interact, Route 66 Rotary Satellite Club, Soroptimist International of Kingman, UniSource Electric and Gas, Walleck Ranch Women Life Group, River Cities United Way, The Standard Newspaper, Kingman Chamber of Commerce, Kingman Downtown Merchants, and the City of Kingman Clean City Commission Adopt-a-Highway program.
