Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Deputies arrested Raymond Michael Lopez, 43 of Kingman, for one count of felony Child Abuse. On Wednesday (7/21) at approximately 3:30 PM, deputies received a call from a female subject stating that she had gone to pick up her two kids from school and left her husband, identified as Lopez, and their one year old son in the car outside of the school. When she exited the school with her two children, the vehicle was gone.

She and the children walked to their residence in the 2300 block of Leroy Ave., but observed the vehicle was not there. The woman then advised they walked to her parent’s house a short distance away to call and report the vehicle and child missing and that Lopez had been intoxicated
when he took the vehicle. A short time later, she walked back to her residence and found Lopez sleeping inside the home, but noted that the vehicle and child were still missing.

Deputies contacted OnStar to get a current location of the vehicle and were advised the car was stationary in the 2300 block of Lass Ave. Deputies located the vehicle and found the child still strapped into a car seat inside the non-running vehicle with the windows up. The child was removed from the vehicle and was evaluated by medical personnel and found to have no injuries. Video surveillance was located from a nearby residence showing Lopez park the vehicle and walk away from the car with the child still inside.

Raymond Michael Lopez was arrested and transported to the Mohave County Adult Detention Facility in Kingman without incident. This investigation is ongoing.
