Release #: 1
On Saturday, September 19th at approximately 10:00 p.m., Kingman Police officers arrested Michael Gene Graham, 56, of Kingman, on felony charges of Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer (x2), Aggravated Assault with a Dangerous Instrument, Resisting Arrest, Criminal Damage, Unlawful Flight, and Reckless Driving.
At approximately 9:50 p.m., an officer travelling westbound on the 2400 block of E. Andy Devine Ave. observed a vehicle moving eastbound at an estimated 90 mph in a 40-mph zone. The officer turned around and located the vehicle stopped at a traffic light near I-40. The vehicle then resumed motion at speeds exceeding the posted limit while traveling in the center continuous turn lane.
When the officer attempted a traffic stop, the driver failed to stop and turned onto Armour Ave., continuing through a 25-mph zone at a high rate of speed, which led to a short pursuit. The vehicle eventually stopped on Bank St. north of Rhoades Ave., but the driver then reversed the truck toward the officer before fleeing south on Rhoades Ave. Due to reduced visibility caused by dust from the fleeing vehicle, the pursuit was discontinued.
Officers in the area observed the vehicle enter Zuni RV Park from Bank St. at a high rate of speed. The vehicle traveled directly toward a fully marked patrol unit—with its lights activated—entering the park from Airway Ave. and struck the patrol vehicle.
When officers arrived, they identified the driver as Graham and issued commands. Ignoring those commands, Graham walked in the officers’ direction and threw an object that struck a vehicle. A Taser was deployed to gain compliance; however, Graham resisted arrest, resulting in a physical struggle. Although officers were able to detain him, he continued kicking at officers after being taken into custody.
Graham was transported to Kingman Regional Medical Center for treatment of injuries sustained during the arrest. After being medically cleared, he was booked into the Mohave County Adult Detention Facility on the charges listed above.
One officer sustained minor injuries that did not require medical attention.
