KINGMAN, Ariz. – The City of Kingman supports the recent Arizona Department of Water Resources (ADWR) Director Tom Buschatzke’s decision to designate an Irrigation Non-Expansion Area (INA) within the Hualapai Valley Groundwater Basin.

Kingman Mayor Ken Watkins said, “After years of research regarding the impacts of the rapid proliferation of industrial agriculture within the Hualapai Basin, I’m pleased to see the ADWR support this measure and protect water for residents in the area for years to come.”

Kingman City Manager Ron Foggin said, “Over 20 private wells drilled in our basin have larger pumping capacity than any municipal well serving the Kingman Water System. We’re happy to see the ADWR follow their process and hear from both sides to come to the conclusion that an INA was needed to protect water in this area.”

The City of Kingman extends our thanks to Representative Regina Cobb for her tireless efforts fighting to protect our water resources during her eight years in the state legislature. Thank you to Senator Sonny Borelli and Rep. Biasiucci for their continued support in the state legislature moving forward.
