Members of the Kiwanis Club of Lake Havasu City recently surprised HAVEN Family Resource Center Director Mary Lou O’Connell (left). The service club invited O’Connell to speak to club members about the many programs HAVEN has to offer – including their Food 4 Kidz Program.

As the Kiwanis Club’s Project of the Month for April, President Stephanie Whittecar (right) presented O’Connell with a check for $1,000. The month of April is also Child Abuse Prevention Month and Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The funding will assist HAVEN (an acronym for Havasu Abuse Victims Education Network) with a variety of different programs, as the Havasu-based non-profit administers services for victims of abuse and sexual assault through a 24-hour crisis and emergency response network.
