KINGMAN—The Kingman Police Department took to Facebook late Tuesday night to assure the parents, and public, the alleged threat against Kingman Academy High School was unfounded.

The KPD reported the rumored threat allegedly started after a bullet was found on a student who reportedly dropped it from their backpack.

“Today a bullet was found in a classroom at Kingman Academy High School. School resource officers where immediately notified. School officials were able to identify the student that dropped the bullet,” wrote KPD. “Officers confirmed that the student had been target practicing the weekend before and simply left it in his pocket. Officers contacted the student’s parents and confirmed. Since that time social media has created a hysteria that is unwarranted and baseless.”

KPD did announce they would have an increased presence at the school Wednesday and that there has been no credible threat of violence.

“Rumors and false information has caused unwarranted fear.” said KPD.
