FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Lake Havasu City would like to remind political candidates and property owners of the upcoming deadline for removing political signs. Political signs must be removed within fifteen days after the election to which they refer. All political signs for candidates not advancing to the General Election must be removed no later than August 5, 2026.

It is the responsibility of the individual who places the sign to comply with city and state regulations, to maintain the sign, and to remove the campaign sign. If Lake Havasu City finds a sign violation, the responsible party will be contacted and allowed twenty-four hours to achieve compliance. In cases where the violation is deemed a safety hazard, the sign may be removed immediately and the responsible party will be notified.

Political signs are allowed on private property and in all zoning districts; however, there are limitations on where they may be placed. Any sign located in the right-of-way must include the name, telephone number, or website address of the candidate or campaign committee contact person. Signs cannot be placed on public utility poles, wash railings, public buildings, or on park property and trees. Additionally, signs must not be placed in any manner that could create a traffic hazard or unsafe conditions for motorists and pedestrians. No political signs are allowed in the City right-of-way within the Sign Free Commercial Tourism, Commercial Resort, and Hotel Zone (see map).
