Residential Fire
At approximately 4:28 p.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2026, firefighters responded to a reported residential structure fire in the 2500 block of Anita Avenue. A neighbor called 911 after observing the home fully engulfed in flames.
The first arriving fire company encountered heavy smoke and fire coming from the residence, with flames beginning to extend to a neighboring home. Four engine companies and a battalion chief responded to the incident. Firefighters brought the fire under control in approximately 25 minutes and successfully prevented it from spreading to the neighboring residence.
All occupants safely evacuated the home prior to firefighters’ arrival, and no injuries to residents or firefighters were reported. The LHCFD Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) responded to the scene to assist with firefighter rehabilitation. Fire crews remained on scene for an additional 21 minutes, conducting salvage and overhaul operations.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
